How did you choose the artist name "Hotaru"?
I saw a movie called "Hotarubi no Mori e" and it really touched me.
I could relate a lot to the main character named Hotaru.
Hotaru means "firefly" in japanese, which actually fits me a lot and represents my personality kind of.
The name always stuck with me, so I made it my artist name!

How did you get into cosplay?
In 2013, I visited my first convention with friends, Japan Expo in Paris.
I had heard of cosplay before, and watched youtube videos about it, and when I saw all those people being dressed up as their favorite characters, I really felt like I wanted to do the same.
That's how the journey started haha!

Do you make your costumes?
I can sew, but I am still an amateur! I do not make every one of my cosplays, as it takes a lot of time and is often more expensive than ordering a finished costume.
However, I really enjoy making things and sewing, so I am always happy if I do get the time to make a costume by myself!
If a costume is made by me, I will say so in the descriptions of my photos!

You only cosplay male characters, why do you crossplay?
I simply enjoy dressing up as a male character ever since I started cosplaying.
I found myself mostly liking the male characters in series a lot, and I was always fascinated by people who do crossplay and picture the opposite gender so well.
I never felt the same happiness when dressing as a female character, so I decided to stick with crossplay!

Will you ever cosplay another female character?
It depends if I like the character enough, I will surely make an exception one day!

How do you choose the characters you cosplay?
If I can relate a lot to a character, I always feel the urge to cosplay it.
I cosplay the characters I really love, no matter how popular they are.
Actually, looking at my cosplays, you will be able to learn a lot about me as a person and my personality!
